It is possible to get officially married while sailing on board the paddle wheeler Kapitein Kok in Amsterdam. The smashing party after the “I do” will make your wedding day absolutely unforgettable. A marriage in the Netherlands may only be contracted if at least one of the partners is a Dutch citizen, or one of the partners is a legal resident of the Netherlands. If both marriage partners reside abroad and intend to marry in the Netherlands, the couple must give notice of their intention at the registrar’s office of the city of The Hague in the Netherlands prior to the ship ceremony. Dutch law acknowledges civil marriages, performed by a registrar of marriages (ambtenaar van de burgerlijke stand) who will come on board to marry you. Once the civil ceremony is completed the marriage may then be solemnized in a religious ceremony.
